In 2010 I spent a winter in a basement at a historic fort in Minneapolis. Here a group of volunteers unpack, label, and repack thousands of artifacts. I watched the beautiful relationship between man and bone unfold in this seemingly endless sea of raw dig.  As a counterpoint in the winter of 2011 I watched pottery students in Somerville MA mold, shape, and fire their own little pieces of existence that hopefully will be found and understood in some future basement.
